Kris MarinoKris Marino comes to Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey with over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Kris was Chief Operating Officer of Worldwide Orphans Foundation in her previous position and prior to that she worked for several large companies including Procter & Gamble, IE DuPont de Nemours and Merck in their strategic and corporate planning departments.

Kris graduated from Duke University with a BA in economics and later an MBA in management. She believes in giving back to the community by helping others to make a difference

Nina McCormackNina McCormack is Director of Development and Communications, and is responsible for broadening the scope and success of Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey’s fundraising and marketing efforts. A marketing professional for more than 23 years, Nina began her career in magazine publishing in New York City and in 2002 she changed her focus to the nonprofit sector.

Prior to coming to Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey, Nina was the Institutional Advancement Officer at the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice in Newark. Nina spent much of her nonprofit career serving as chief development & marketing officer at NewBridge Services. In her previous roles she has been responsible for donor recruitment and cultivation, relationship building, annual giving, board cultivation, marketing and communications, community outreach, volunteer management and special events.

Nina has a bachelor’s degree from Staten Island University.

IMG_1896Elsa Zavoda, MS OTR/L, SCLV, CLVT is the Program Director at Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey and has been a practicing Occupational Therapist since 1997 with extensive clinical experience, serving in a variety of settings.  Ms. Zavoda originally graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.  Ms. Zavoda obtained a Graduate Certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007 under the leadership of Mary Warren, MS OTR/L, FAOTA, SCLV.  She has served as a teaching assistant, working directly with Ms. Warren.  Ms. Zavoda has been concentrating in the field of Low Vision Rehabilitation since 2006.  Ms. Zavoda is the 16th Occupational Therapist in the U.S, and the first in NJ to be awarded Specialty Certification in Low Vision (SCLV) from AOTA in January 2010.  She also has earned her Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) credential from ACVREP in September 2010.  Ms. Zavoda has successfully established and implemented 3 low vision programs in NJ, and practiced at The Low Vision Center of Central NJ.  Elsa also serves as the Vision Advisor for

Linda Groszew is the Senior Program Manager at Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey and is responsible for creating, coordinating and supervising all classes. For the past 11 years Linda has worked with the staff to develop programs and services that empowers individuals with vision loss.

Linda studied Music at William Paterson University with a focus in Education. She has raised 5 children, 4 of which are quadruplets, all while owning and operated a small Country Market in Sussex County.

Linda has dedicated her time to her career and to teaching private piano lessons, something she still entertains to this day. Maintaining loyalty to her residence in Denville for over 20 years, Linda has found a community to embrace and a career to nurture with her personal and professional experiences. Her diverse history of caring for others keeps her interest in non-profit work strong and passionate.

Karen GalluzziKaren joined Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey in 2005, and handles a multitude of responsibilities including book keeping, contract administration, planning and coordinating meetings and general office management.

Prior to working at Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey, Karen worked at AMY Mohawk Transfer and Warwick Data Systems. Karen attended Marquette University in Wisconsin.

HenaoJorge joined the staff in 2005, and is responsible for the care and maintenance of the facilities, program support, shopping for materials for classes, food prep and assisting the students as needed.

Jorge loves to cook and watch sports especially the NY Mets and NY Giants! Jorge is married with one child, and lives in Morristown, NJ.
