Low Vision Occupational Therapy Services & VLANJ @Home Occupational Therapy Services

Meet 1:1 with our accredited Occupational Therapist who has specialty certifications in Low Vision. Our goal is to provide you with the techniques and skills needed to continue to live independently and confidently. Depending upon your specific needs, you will be trained in areas of personal care, home management activities, financial management, reading, writing, and assistive technology.

VLANJ @Home Occupational Therapy Services

Our newest program, which just launched in September 2023, brings the convenience of low vision Occupational Therapy services to a person’s home.  Our team of licensed occupational therapists (OTs) will bring their skilled training to assist you in your own home. This program focuses on addressing safety and independence in completing daily living activities. The OT can provide timely, specific individualized recommendations in strategies to adjust lighting, enhance contrast, improve household organization, and reduce the risk of falls and self-injury in the home. These services are provided with a referral from an eye care specialist and are approved by most major insurance plans, including Medicare.

Elsa Zavoda, MS OTR/L, SCLV, CLVT
Elsa Zavoda, MS OTR/L, SCLV, CLVT has been a practicing Occupational Therapist since 1997 with extensive clinical experience, serving in a variety of settings.  Ms. Zavoda graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.  Ms. Zavoda obtained a Graduate Certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007 under the leadership of Mary Warren, MS OTR/L, FAOTA, SCLV.  She has served as a teaching assistant, working directly with Ms. Warren.  Ms. Zavoda has been concentrating in the field of Low Vision Rehabilitation since 2006.  Ms. Zavoda is the 16th Occupational Therapist in the U.S, and the first in NJ to be awarded Specialty Certification in Low Vision (SCLV) from AOTA in January 2010.  She also has earned her Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) credential from ACVREP in September 2010.  Ms. Zavoda has successfully established and implemented 3 low vision programs in NJ, including at The Low Vision Center of Central NJ.  She currently serves as the Vice President of Programs for the Vision Loss Alliance of NJ.  Elsa also serves as the Vision Advisor for OccupationalTherapy.com, and as an Independent Peer Case Reviewer for MCMC.
